Discover the Dales July
2003
5th & 6th July 2003.
Our second trip into the Yorkshire Dales for the ukLANDROVERevents greenlaning weekend. Again we had 2 groups, 6 in each this time.
We had a lot of 90's on this event, 9 in total, together with 2 Freelanders and Ians Bobbed Rangie!

Ian & Rachel took out group one on day one, in the Bobtailed 300Tdi Range Rover. That left Colin and Bob to take out group two, leading the way in the 200Tdi Defender 90. Day two sees the groups swap, so everyone gets a chance to meet.

The terrain in the Yorkshire Dales always includes a lot of stone, sometimes mud, but not very often does it include water. So we thought a little trip down a river might help cool off our entrants. Unfortunately, the water level here never gets very high, but it's still a nice drive over the cobbled river bed.

Now, those rocks we told you about. Lots of the tracks are lined with rocks and stone. But this particular route has more than it's fair share. The small rocks are loose underfoot, making for a tricky descent. Then, half way down this tricky little maneuver, there's a couple of big rock steps to contend with.

Day two! The groups have swapped over and Jonathan's leaving the site ready for another day greenlaning. Has he noticed me stood in front of him with the camera? I'm pretty sure he has, but that doesn't seem to bother him, he's certainly not going for the brake pedal. I think I'd better move!

We start off climbing up onto the Dale, then descending into the valley towards the Reservoir. Zig zagging down these slopes brings us into view of the Dam ahead, which we will drive across to get to our stop for lunch, before climbing again, up the other side and back out of the valley.

If you were there, thanks for coming and we hope you enjoyed the trip. We hope to see you again soon on another event.
